Internships are a crucial aspect of a student’s education. This unique opportunity allows students to gain international experience while enhancing their professional skills.
By working and living in foreign countries, students can truly understand and appreciate different cultures, professional practices, languages, and traditions.

Kerplouz Lasalle Highschool has been developing these international mobilities for few years now and sent five young students in STAV 1 to Ireland last June.
As part of their studies that focus on science and technology related to agronomy and the living world, they were able to gain experience in landscaping, apiculture and even in the equestrian field.
For some of them, it was a first-time experience for many reasons: traveling abroad, taking a plane away from them families for few weeks.
Initially hesitating, they all enjoyed having a professional experience abroad.

You will find their testimonies here under:

Jade, 18 years old – 4-week internship in an Equestrian Farm

“My name is Jade and I spent one month in Ireland for an internship in a company which works with horses (stallions, mares and foals).
The company raises horses, realizes the breaking for the young horses and participates in different shows like jumping or loose jumping events.
During my stay, I took care of the horses in the morning: I fed them, mocked them out of the stables, and we put out a few horses like mares and foals.
After I helped the riders with horses.
The thing I loved was to be able to speak different languages, because there were a lot of different people.
I enjoyed spending time with the horses because they are very smart creatures. It was a really good experience and people were so kind.”

Valentine, 18 years old – 3-week internship in a garden center

“I was in a host family in Dublin for 3 weeks. I worked in the company named Urban plant life. I realized different activities such as cleaning, adding prices on products and storing them.  I was lucky to be near my friends and every evening we talked about our day. We visited Dublin during the weekend. It was a very good experience to improve my English and to discover another country.”

Aïdan, 16 years old – 3-week internship in Apiculture

“I was in a remote part of Dublin with a Beekeeper. During this internship I did a lot of activities like collecting the frames full of honey from the hives, making frames for the bees, checking if the bees had not left the hive, checking the clutches of worker bees and queens, collecting the honey, and putting it in jars.
This experience was cool, I really liked learning things about the job of a beekeeper: how the bees work, how to collect honey, and more. I also liked to improve my level in English and go out in Dublin with my friends.”

Damien, 16 years old – 3-week internship in a garden center

“I was on an internship in Ireland for 3 weeks in Dublin. I worked for a company called Newlands Garden. In this company we mainly worked on plants, selling plants to customers.
An internship abroad allows you to better understand English but also to speak English. This experience was particularly beneficial to me because it allowed me to know more vocabulary but also it gave me good memories and a good experience in another country.”

Noé, 18 years old – 3-week internship in a garden center

“In the company, at first it was complicated to understand the tasks we had to realize but over time it went well. Most of the time, we cleaned the place where the plants were stored, we sorted the plants and watered them.
The company gave us the opportunity to design a garden to show plants to the customers and give them an idea of what they could do and buy.
During the weekend we visited the capital where the atmosphere is crazy.
What I remember the most is the kindness of the Irish people and their understanding of our possible difficulties in English, but also the memories I have with my friends living this experience abroad.”
